Reading....joke.

A friend forwarded me the joke below. How appropriate!! It goes with my reading and books topic on my last blog. :)

One morning the husband returns after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap.

Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out.

She motors out a short distance, anchors, and reads her book.

Along comes a Game Warden in his boat.

He pulls up alongside the woman and says, "Good morning, Ma'am. What are you doing?"

"Reading a book," she replies, (thinking, Isn't that obvious?)

"You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her.

"I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing. I'm reading."

"Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment.

"I'll have to take you in and write you up."

"If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the woman.

"But I haven't even touched you," says the game warden.

"That's true, but you have all the equipment.

For all I know you could start at any moment."

"Have a nice day ma'am," and he left.

Great Deals on Books!!

My darling hubby brought me to the thrift store here just this past Saturday and look what I found. What a great deal on all these books. They ranged between a quarter to 50 cents each. Can't beat that even at the flea market here.

'Nasi Lemak'

After a long absence from blogging, just when I thought I would blog other than food...I was wrong. I cooked 'Nasi Lemak' (Coconut Rice) yesterday and couldn't resist posting it. I craved for it about 3 days...sheesh...I have got to stop saying that.....noooooooo....I am not expecting!! Seen here with quail eggs smothered with hot spicy 'sambal' (sauce) with sliced onions, fried anchovies, sliced cucumbers...the other egg there was what I cooked before I decided on the quail eggs.

Food TV Network

All I can say is I love Alton Brown, Sandra Lee and Rachael Ray. They are some of the chefs on the Food TV Network. Loves Alton for his humour and his brains of course!! Even hubby is enjoying his show now. I love Sandra Lee's and Rachael Ray's shows for the short cuts to cooking and semi-homemade tips. Anything that is good and yet less hassle, I am in!! Too busy with piles of things to do, do not want to spend too much time in the kitchen. Wishful thinking....perhaps someday I have my own cooking show....a long way to go....still tons of things to learn and experiment. Another wishful thinking....want Alton Brown to be my private tutor!! heheheheee...

For darling hubby, I made Mr Goodbar Chocolate and Peanut Butter pastry. Looks awfully sweet for me, but hubby seems to like it and finished it all.

Singapore Curry Noodles

Note to self : DO NOT add 'sambal belacan' in this noodle the next time. It tasted so much better the last time I cooked this without it. It was an experiment. Have extra of that curry paste I made, will add that to the leftover noodles when I reheat it today.

Since I won't be cooking much today, will bake something special for my dearest hubby. He deserves it, he's been a wonderful husband and friend. :)

Mom's cooking and something Indonesian

The first one is rice with tofu and bean sprouts soup, topped with fried prawns chilli paste. Learned that from my beloved mom. Very easy.

The second is tofu with eggs, topped with cucumber, shrimp paste and sweet soy sauce. Not quite like the one in Sanur Indonesian restaurant back home, but still good. Found out online that I missed out something....corn flour....DO'H!!
