Food TV Network
All I can say is I love Alton Brown, Sandra Lee and Rachael Ray. They are some of the chefs on the Food TV Network. Loves Alton for his humour and his brains of course!! Even hubby is enjoying his show now. I love Sandra Lee's and Rachael Ray's shows for the short cuts to cooking and semi-homemade tips. Anything that is good and yet less hassle, I am in!! Too busy with piles of things to do, do not want to spend too much time in the kitchen. Wishful thinking....perhaps someday I have my own cooking show....a long way to go....still tons of things to learn and experiment. Another wishful thinking....want Alton Brown to be my private tutor!! heheheheee...

Since I won't be cooking much today, will bake something special for my dearest hubby. He deserves it, he's been a wonderful husband and friend. :)

Mom's cooking and something Indonesian
The second is tofu with eggs, topped with cucumber, shrimp paste and sweet soy sauce. Not quite like the one in Sanur Indonesian restaurant back home, but still good. Found out online that I missed out something....corn flour....DO'H!!

More about food!!
No picture today. Yesterday, I cooked Vietnamese style noodles with soup but I was so starving that I didn't want to spend all that time taking pictures etc. No Yahoo chat with my dear friend in Singapore this morning. She must have been busy. Not sure what I will be cooking today but I am hungry. Have been checking out recipes online for days now and drooling simultaneously. It's hard being far away from home....away from all the good food. Hard to get some of the ingredients in this itty bitty town too. There is only 1 Asian grocery store and it doesn't have enough varieties. Have to make do with what I have and things that I stocked up from my last visit to the Asian grocers in Atlanta and Indian grocer in Chattanooga, TN.

'Cucur Durian' (Durian Fritters)

This is the kind of durian that I get from here. The Vietnamese store here sells the whole ones too but still frozen. I prefer this one as they are seedless and ready to use. I finally made the durian fritters. It turned out ok but next time, I have to use self raising flour instead or add bicarbonate, slightly more salt and of course more durian.

'Mee Rebus'
So it has been food I talk about and nothing else...can't help it...far away from home, away from all the good food. I cooked 'mee rebus'. It's the 2nd time I cooked this that I can remember since I moved here in 1999. A little oily this time...hopefully the next time round, I'll cook the perfect 'mee rebus'.
